The Restaurant at Beaucette Marina, Guernsey, nestles in beautiful surroundings overlooking the island’s private marina with its yachts and motorboats.

Enjoy dining either in the restaurant or on the large terrace and decking area for the sun conscious, whilst overlooking Guernsey’s neighbouring islands.

Chef James

“Creating exciting flavours is the start of a great dish,” says Chef James Scowen earnestly. “Once I have the attention of the taste buds I perfect the presentation. Finally we must be able to recreate the dish consistently.”

Chef James adds, “A guest first sees the finished dish. Then they’ll smell and taste the food. Provided the guest smiles and I hear the ‘mmm’ I know I’ve succeeded.”

Chef of the Year

With a strong background in the classics, Chef James turned to competitive cooking in 1999 when he was awarded Channel Island Chef of the Year.

In 2000, Chef James became the Gold Medallist in the Five Nations Challenge followed by National Chef of the Year, finally being awarded the coveted Guiton Guernsey Ambassador for having brought credit and recognition for cooking to the Channel Islands.

Since then, Chef James has concentrated on his dream of creating beautiful food. His kitchen buzzes with chefs creating memorable dishes.


A native Scot, Valerie has worked in many of Scotland’s finest hotels. Moving to Guernsey the list of notable hotels she worked in continued to grow and included the Cobo Bay, La Grand Mare and Idlerocks.

Valerie married Chef James in 1997, later moving to be with him at the Courtyard Brasserie. The rest is history….


The Restaurant at Beaucette Marina gives considerable support to the following two charities.

The pedestrian safety charity ‘Living Streets Guernsey LBG’ whose beautifully illustrated calendars and greeting cards are on sale in the Restaurant, and the Guernsey Royal Air Force Club.
